covering cultural institutions in Poland

Conference/workshop PULMAN in Poland concentrates on following objectives:

  • to discuss concept of creating Polish libraries network

  • to take up co-operation between Polish public libraries, museums and archives

  • to introduce DGMs in Poland (discussion, opinions, dissemination) 

About 80 participants are expected, including: representatives Ministry of Culture, representatives Polish Librarians Association, public libraries, museums, archives, decision makers, commercial sector, media, and other people interested in development of public libraries in Poland.

  • A tour of the Museum of Warmia and Mazury, the State Archive, Provincial Public Library – Old Town Hall in Olsztyn

  • Opening of the conference/workshop – Andrzej Ryński (Marshal of Warmia and Mazury Province)

  • Aims and objectives of the PULMAN Network of Excellence – Breda Karun (member of the project Management Board, Slovenia)

  • Co-operation of libraries, museums and archives in European countries – Joanna Kacprzak (Warsaw Public Library)

  • A presentation of the multi-library model in the solutions of MAX Elektronik S.A.

  • Professional information activity of libraries is currently a must – Lucjan Biliński (Ministry of Culture)

  • Modernising library workshops in the weakening network of public libraries – Jan Wołosz (the Board of Polish Librarians Association)

  • The Warmia and Mazury road to cooperation of public libraries – Roman Ławrynowicz, Dr Marcin Majdecki (Provincial Public Library in Olsztyn)

  • The co-operation platform for the public library network – Teresa Szymorowska (Książnica Kopernikańska in Toruń)

  • Degree of computerisation of museum collections in Poland – standardising exchanges and making the museum information accessible (SSWIM) – Agnieszka Jaskanis (The State Archaeological Museum in Warsaw)

  • Modernisation of Polish archives – Dr Andrzej Biernat (the General Managing Board of the State Archives)

  • Computer presentations – Local Information Database, Polish archives on the Internet, the State Archaeological Museum

  • The outlook concerning the development of information technology and its impact on the role and social position of libraries – Dr Bronisław Żurawski (The Nicholas Copernicus University in Toruń, the CULTIVATE Poland coordinator)

  • Communiqués from the participants of the training workshops organised by PULMAN Network in libraries – European centres of excellence

  • Introduction to group work

  • Group work: 
    o 1 - The concept of a library network in Poland
    o 2 - Opportunities for cooperation between public libraries, museums and archives in Poland
    o 3 - Services in Public libraries – PULMAN DGMs – social and management guidelines
    o 4 - Services in Public libraries – PULMAN DGMs – technical guidelines
