Local to global: the business of cultural heritage

The challenges faced by this workshop are: building bridges between libraries, museums and archives; setting a basic agenda for modern cultural services at the local level; consolidating progress on technical and social issues; and investigating the synergies between cultural tourism, SMEs and citizens' interests in heritage and leisure activities. They will be addressed by two major support projects with impact on citizens through local authorities (PULMAN: networking public library expertise across 36 European countries, and TRIS: coordinating dissemination and exploitation opportunities for 25 take-up trials on cultural heritage), and will draw on emerging results from the Heritage for All projects. (The global conference programme is now available)
