From a to @ Learning from each other in e-Europe
(working title)

On 13-14 March 2003, a key e-Europe event will take place in Oeiras, Portugal. Two hundred high level politicians and key players from public libraries, archives and museums will meet to discuss the role of cultural heritage institutions in e-Europe. We look forward to welcoming representatives from 36 European countries including Albania, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, F.Y.R.O.M., Moldova, , Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Russia, , Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Urkaine, United Kingdom and Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro).

The conference is the culmination of the two year PULMAN project, funded by the European Commission Information Society Technologies (IST) programme. PULMAN aims to develop and promote the agenda of public libraries in the digital era. An important part of this agenda is the co-operation of public libraries with their local partners, such as museums and archives, to enable the delivery of high quality, modern and innovative services to the local community.

The conference programme features topics such as lifelong learning, e-government and social and economic development. There will be a range of speakers from different countries and from influential European sectoral organisations. The conference programme is designed to give you a strategic insight into current and future European developments. The role that our country can play in shaping these developments at local, national and European level is illustrated by inspiring examples of good practice. The focus will be on both large and small scale projects which have made a substantial contribution to the realisation of the information society and the key role of public libraries.

It is our great pleasure to invite you to participate in this major European event.
