Babies Project - Parents and Sons building the Future 
Aims to stimulate reading, help develop children's creativity and imagination; promote good relationship between parents and sons; increase the library role as a space to share information and experiences about themes related to childhood; help to build good relationships between parents and professionals who work with children; and promote equality of opportunities.

Serbia
The "Dordje Jovanovic" public library in Belgrade
provides innovative services for children including reading schemes, help with homework, chess playing, and an acting studio designed to develop children's creativity.

Slovenia
Pionirska knjiznica
Web site operated by the main children’s library in Slovenia promoting a children’s reading initiative. On the website children can chat about books they have read and exchange opinions to promote reading. An example of a co-operative initiative between libraries and schools.

Pionirska knjiznica
A web based Book Quiz (also available in other media formats) encouraging children to learn about Slovene regions (geography, history, ethnology, etc.) while reading literature by classic Slovenian authors. A good example on using IST to promote cultural awareness while developing IST skills, computer literacy, reading and social inclusion (for example, for Slovene minorities and the children of Slovenian emigrants).

Spain
"S.O.L." Project
Reading initiative financed by the National Plan for the Promotion of Reading. Has set up a web page including a list of recommended reading both for adults and children. It is the result of a joint effort of 12 participating public libraries throughout Spain, with the collaboration of the Centro Internacional de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil of the German Sánchez Ruipérez Foundation (FGSR).

National Literacy Trust
Web site of the National Literacy Trust programme providing information on literacy including Government policies, practical suggestions and initiatives, research, statistics and resources, divided into sections such as early years, primary, parents, libraries etc.

New Opportunities Fund Digitisation Programme
The programme provides a unique model for the creation of innovative on-line learning resources for, bringing together partnerships representing the community and voluntary sectors, local authorities, libraries and archives, museums, further and higher education, and the private sector. The material is targeted particularly to users of public libraries through the Peoples Network (PN) and to schools through the National Grid for Learning (NGfL). Part of a wider NOF IST initiative to train "public library staff, school librarians and teachers" and support infrastructure costs.

The Reading Agency
